The CLI method is the fastest and cleanest way to reset your FortiGate 30D if you still have administrative access to the device. You can run these commands via a console cable connection or through an SSH/Telnet session.
On older FortiOS firmware versions, the physical reset button can be explicitly disabled within the system configuration for security purposes ( set reset-button disable ). If this is the case, you must use the CLI or the Maintainer method to reset the unit.
