Poetry and philosophical musings on the harmony between humans and the environment. The Significance of the Sonderheft (Special Issues)

Exposure to light and moisture causes inks to fade or bleed into adjacent pages.

: The first application to have the magazines indexed (i.e., placed on the list of media harmful to young persons) was filed with the German Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons (Bundesprüfstelle) . The application was rejected .

If you are looking to collect or identify specific issues, here are key characteristics:

[Damaged Original] │ ├─► Physical Conservation ──► (Deacidification, Re-stapling, Mending Tears) │ └─► Digital Remastering ──► (High-Res Scanning, Digital De-warping, Color Correction) 1. Physical Archival Restoration

If you type “Sonnenfreunde Sonderheft nudist magazine fixed” into a search engine, you might be confused. “Fixed” typically refers to one of three scenarios in the collector community:

German periodicals from this era—especially nudist magazines, which were often hidden away or smuggled past disapproving spouses—were poorly bound. They used a cheap, acidic glue that becomes brittle after 40 years. Consequently, 80% of surviving Sonnenfreunde Sonderhefte have disintegrated spines . The centerfold falls out. The cover detaches.

For collectors, Sonnenfreunde Sonderhefte occupies a rarefied space. They are historical, controversial, and rare.

If the magazine says “Reproduction” or “Facsimile” on the back cover, it is not original and cannot be “fixed” into an original collectible.

A "fixed" digital edition refers to a high-resolution scan that has undergone rigorous digital curation. Preservationists use software to: Correct color balancing and remove yellow aging artifacts. Repair digital tears, creases, and ink bleeds.

  1. My longtime favourite is Solomon’s Boneyard (see also: Solomon’s Keep!). I’ll have to check out Eternium because it might be similar — you pick a wizard that controls a specific element (magic balls, lightning, fire, ice) and see how long you can last a graveyard shift. I guess it’s kind of a rogue-lite where you earn upgrades within each game but also persistent upgrades, like magic rings and additional unlockable characters (steam, storm, fireballs, balls of lightning, balls of ice, firestorm… awesome combos of the original elements.)

I also used to enjoy Tilt to Live, which I think is offline too.

Donut county is a fun little puzzle game, and Lux Touch is mobile risk that’s played quickly.

  2. Thank you great list. My job entails hours a day in an area with no internet and with very little to do. Lol hours of bordom, minutes of stress seconds of shear terror !

Some of these are going to be life savers!

  3. I’ve put hours upon hours into Fallout Shelter. You build a Fallout Shelter and add rooms to it Electric, Water, Food, and if you add a man and woman to a room they will have a baby. The baby will grow up and you can add them to an area to help with the shelter. Outsiders come and attack if you take them out sometimes you can loot the body to get new weapons. There’s a lot more to it but thats kind of sums it up. Thank you for the list I’m down loading some now!

    1. Oh man, I spent so much time on Fallout Shelter a few years ago! Very fun game — thanks for the reminder!
