The story follows Kenji Narukami, a young detective who arrives in the peaceful town of Akebono. Unbeknownst to most citizens, the town is built upon a "Power Spot" that emits magical energy, attracting the evil demon army, the Jamanga. Kenji is soon chosen by a sentient sword, the GekiRyuKen, transforming him into the titular hero, Ryukendo.
